Troublesome Creek Medicine was founded in 2022 by Chris Hucks. After practicing in family, emergency, and geriatric environments, Chris decided to open up his own medical center practice.

Chris and his family live on Troublesome Creek Road in Buckingham County. While waiting on the construction of the office, patients will be seen at their residence, bringing back home visits.

Troublesome Creek Medicine will provide most types of patient care, including labs, referrals, and sick visits and will come to your home. Chris hopes to build a strong family practice of adults and children.

Chris Hucks, FNP-C, Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Chris is a long time Buckingham County resident and resides in the county with his wife and 3 children.

His medical career started with the Buckingham County Volunteer Rescue Squad. In 1997, he became a Nationally Registered Paramedic and worked in the city of Richmond, Madison and Nottoway counties, UVA Health, and worked at MedSTAR as a flight paramedic. In 2008, he had fulfilled his dream job as a flight paramedic with PHI. Unfortunately on his birthday, he lost his flight job as the base closed down but this has led to where he is now.

Chris obtained his RN license in 2009. His nursing career started in the Southside Emergency Department in Farmville. He worked at the UVA Surgical Trauma/Burn Intensive care unit, Bon Secours Critical Care Transport team, Martha Jefferson Emergency Department, and continued to volunteer when he had time.

In 2017, he passed the national boards through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and started his career as a Family Nurse Practitioner. He has been involved in family medicine, including pediatrics, emergency medicine, and has extensive experience with the geriatric population as well.

Chris has continued to want to give back to his community and looks forward to opening his own practice with Troublesome Creek Medicine, on his family farm. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Amber and their 3 children, Kaitlyn, Nick, and Jackson.
